From the President’s Console: August 2001

In these times of economic uncertainty lurks opportunity. And INFONETICS has grabbed a piece of that opportunity with the recent hire of Jason M. Fairchild as Account Specialist Apprentice. Jason comes to us from a large Internet Access Provider who’s facing difficult times ahead, including down-sizing and possibly bankruptcy. Their loss is our gain! Please make a point of welcoming Jason to the family if you should happen to catch him on the phone.

Fortunately, business here at INFONETICS remains robust and profitable. In fact, we set a three year high for gross sales this past July. We chose to sit out the roller-coaster “dot com” ride of the last two years and concentrate on steady manageable growth, and are reaping the rewards of that strategy now.

That’s not to say that we’re not invested (and continuing to invest) in Internet technologies. Our web hosting business now boasts dozens of domains, including some notable win-backs of customers web sites that had initially been developed elsewhere, and even some web sites for customers that don’t have our classic UNIX accounting software (yet). iCat, our Internet Catalog continues to draw attention from around the Welding Supply industry and even from other markets.

Sometimes it pays to be the rock solid, best of breed provider, even if it doesn’t come with an I.P.O.
