From the President’s Console: May 2000

Posted May 2000

We made it (again)! This past Mother’s day weekend, my wife Mary and I rode in the annual Tour Of Scioto River Valley (TOSRV) bicycle ride from the statehouse in downtown Columbus to the Ohio river in Portsmouth. 210 miles round trip with over 14 hours of pedaling. This was my sixth TOSRV and although we faced strong headwinds on the way back, I believe we fared better than ever before, thanks in most part to Mary’s efforts pedaling our tandem. It’s a truly rewarding experience, and always serves to remind me of the importance of the word “persistence” in all aspects of our lives. We’ve also secured the services of a new PC Technician. Daniel Betz, Jr. has joined our service department and will be coming to know many of you over the coming months as he assembles, repairs, fixes and assists you with a wide variety of hardware and software issues. Please take a moment to say hi to Daniel the next time you call in and welcome him.
This month we have three new customers to welcome to the INFONETICS family.

INFONETICS has gone “International”! This past month we installed a new system for Quality Welding Products in Puerto Rico. Established less than 2 years ago, Luisa & Pedro have grown their operation to 2 stores in Caguas and Ponce, with plans for more. President/Account Specialist David Frea, along with briefcase totting wife Mary, stepped up to the call of duty to install the new INFONETICS system at QWP over the Easter holiday weekend. (With the Caribbean as their backyard, who could blame him for pulling rank on this one?) QWP distributes a wide range of Welding Supplies and Industrial Gases to clients throughout Puerto Rico. I’d like to welcome Luisa, Pedro and Elizabeth as INFONETICS customers and extend a special thanks for their hospitality in showing us around their beautiful island.

We’ve also recently renewed ties to Northern Ohio by adding Pro Weld Service and Supply Co., Inc. as a new customer. World-traveling Account Specialist Jim Conlin took the opportunity to stay close to home as he recently installed Pro Weld’s new INFONETICS system. With over ten years of experience serving the welding community at other distributors, Marianne Kravec and Dean Cantrell are looking forward to serving the Cleveland area out of their new south Cleveland suburban store. As a start up operation, Pro Weld will initially be offering hard goods only, but are looking forward to bringing on industrial and welding gases in the near future. Please welcome Marianne, Dean and Pro Weld Service and Supply Co., Inc. to the INFONETICS family.

Finally, after 14 years of phone calls, quotes, and demonstrations we finally are thrilled to welcome the James C. Dawes Company, Inc. of Martin’s Ferry, Ohio as a new INFONETICS customer. Through the tag-team efforts of President David Frea and Account Specialist Jim Conlin, INFONETICS was finally given the opportunity to make good on all the promises we’ve been making over the years to the people at Dawes. Since 1941 Dawes has been serving a six-county, 50-mile radius of Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. Dawes is an AGA distributor of industrial and welding gases that specializes in helium sales. In addition to gases, Dawes also supplies hard goods to the welding community from manufacturers such as Hobart and Harris-Welco. Welcome to Brian, Dave, Harry, and the rest of the James C. Dawes Company.
